For the past eight years, So Totally has been carving out their own unique sound in the Philadelphia music scene. Simultaneously dreamy and intense, the quartet combines elements of atmospheric indie rock, cathartic shoegaze, and noisy psych pop for a result that invites you to lose yourself in the moment, while still maintaining a captivating intensity. With nearly 4 years since the band’s last full-length release, the new singles “Baby Step To Revenge” and “Welcome Back” hint that the band has been hard at work to expand their sound, with a new release promised before the end of the year. Whether it’s the feeling of dreaming, or a rush of blood to your head…you’re sure to find familiarity in their wash of sound.
Well Wisher’s long-awaited sophomore record, That Weight, is a loud and raucous guitar record with intimately sincere lyrics delivered raw and desperately. Songwriter Natalie Newbold (current touring member of The Front Bottoms), along with bandmates Lucas Dalakian (formerly of ROMP), Lynsey Vandenberg, and Matt Viani, spent much of the 2020-21 lockdowns writing, demoing, recording and pushing their creative limits to craft fresh yet familiar tracks. For the year ahead, the group is looking forward to playing Adjacent Fest with Blink-182 and Paramore in Atlantic City and hitting the road once again this summer.
Puppy Angst is a moody 5-piece from Philadelphia started by Alyssa Milman (guitar, vocals). Alyssa’s songwriting combines raw, diary-like lyricism colored by the biting introspection of adulthood with shoegaze and dream pop influences, resulting in tracks that tell a noisy and unapologetic coming-of-age story. Dan Leinweber (guitar, vocals), John Heywood (bass), and Eric Naroden (drums) round out the rest of the band. As of February 2022, Pauli Mia has joined as a performing member on synth and backing vocals.
On October 24th, 2022, Puppy Angst released their debut album Scorpio Season. Their music has been played on WXPN, CD 92.9 FM, KXLU, DKFM Shoegaze Radio, BFF.FM, WKDU, and more. They’ve been covered by WXPN, Queerty, Guitar Girl Magazine, and Magnet Magazine, among other publications. Alyssa previously toured with fellow Philly pop outfit Kississippi, and their past projects include Past Life and Blushed, in which they were a founding member. Dan played lead guitar in Blushed and currently creates music under his projects Greenspace and Radial Gradient. John plays bass in Alex G, Eric is the frontman of In Lieu of Roses, and Pauli is the frontwoman of the project Twin Princess.
