PET SYMMETRY

Pet Symmetry started with the best and simplest of intentions: as an excuse to goof off. In 2013, the band’s three members, Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It., Their / They’re / There, Couplet), Erik Czaja (Dowsing) and Marcus Nuccio (Ratboys), started kicking around ideas that were more lighthearted in nature than their full-time projects. Almost by accident, the result of their collective fun morphed into something real, and became Pet Symmetry.
The Chicago-based power-pop trio released their first EP, Two Songs About Cars. Two Songs With Long Titles. in May 2013 and since then, have released three albums and five EPs. In 2017, they released their second album, Vision via Polyvinyl Records, which adopts the moodiness and heartfelt tones its creators are best known for. Their most recent release in 2021, Future Suits via the community-run record label Storm Chasers LTD came after the uncertainty of the pandemic. Future Suits was written to reflect a time of misery, confusion, and pain, yet still has a lively and upbeat attitude.
Their newest track “Big Engagement” is out everywhere now. 2025 will be a big year for Pet Symmetry, with much more to come…

PONY

There’s a long tradition of bands that can compellingly explore the nuances of the human experience within the confines of pop music, that can elegantly consider both the lighter and darker elements of life through a deceptively sunny-sounding three-and-a-half-minute song. On their sophomore full-length album, Velveteen, Toronto’s reigning power pop champions PONY manage the task with both finesse and panache across 10 irresistibly hook-filled tracks–and further cement their place in the genre’s lineage. Influenced by countless hours of self-reflection, literature, television, and insomnia, the record showcases the band’s elevated sound and is their most fully-realized to date–examining the complex relationships between longing, connection, and being true to oneself.
